❶
Brand Identity & Differentiation
A custom typeface strengthens brand identity and sets the company apart from competitors. Type has always been a central element in any visual design. With a custom font, it becomes a unique brand element that can be used consistently across all communication channels, contributing to customer recognition and trust.
❷
Exclusive Use & Rights
With a custom typeface, the brand gains exclusive usage rights – be it for desktop, web, apps or merchandise. This means no other brand can use the same font, protecting brand integrity and avoiding legal conflicts that can arise from shared font licenses.
❸
Tailored to Your Needs
A custom typeface can be precisely tailored to the brand’s requirements and communication strategies. It can include special characters, accents, or stylistic elements that an existing font may not offer, ensuring it perfectly fits the brand design. You’re even free in naming your typeface – keep it easy and call your font by your company’s name.
❹
Cost Efficiency
With a custom font, there are no ongoing licensing fees associated with using an existing font. Particularly for international use and large-scale applications, this can lead to significant cost savings over time – even if the initial costs for developing a custom typeface may be higher.

❺
Consistency Across All Media
A custom typeface ensures that typography remains consistent across all media and formats, including digital and print materials, as well as different international markets. Consistency in typography contributes to a professional and cohesive brand presentation.
Full custom
A full custom corporate font gives your brand a unique visual identity in all markets – both nationally and internationally. Just like a logo, a distinctive visual language, or an individual marketing strategy, a custom font contributes to your brand’s unique perception. You wouldn’t use a color that your competitor already uses, right? So why use a font that dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of potential competitors around the world also use? See what we mean? 🙂
Modifications
It doesn’t always have to be a completely new font. In some cases, a customized version of a Gallery Type font might suffice. Don’t like the shape of the lowercase “g”? Want the dots on the “i” to be round instead of square? Or diamond-shaped?
Extensions
All Gallery Type fonts support over 200 languages based on the Latin alphabet. This includes all languages used in Europe, the Americas, Oceania, and parts of Asia – covering nearly 3 billion people. However, in global markets, other writing systems often need to be included. If you require an extended character set for a Gallery Type font (e.g., Cyrillic, Greek, etc.), please don’t hesitate to contact us. We work with an international network of type designers specializing in a wide range of writing systems.
Logo Add-In & Renaming
Sometimes, consistent branding is that simple: to make it easier to select the right font, we can add your name to the font’s name or integrate your logo into the font itself. No more juggling different file formats – insert your company logo directly into your documents via your keyboard.
❶ Licensing Fees
Scenario
Your company uses a licensed font for all digital and print materials across various departments, regions, and projects.
Costs
Annual licensing fees can range from hundreds to thousands of €/$ per user or per project.
Example
If you have 500 users across the globe and the annual license fee is €100 per user, you are spending €50.000 each year just on font licenses. Over 10 years, this amounts to €500.000. Crazy, isn’t it?
Custom Font
The one-time cost to develop a custom typeface might somewhere between €50–200.000, depending on complexity. This means significant savings over time as you eliminate annual fees.
❷ Scalability
Scenario
Your marketing campaigns and branding materials are continuously expanding.
Costs
Each new project might require additional licensing if the font usage terms are restrictive, adding to the cumulative cost.
Example
A new product launch in multiple regions could incur additional licensing fees of €10.000+ per region.
Custom Font
With a custom font, you avoid incremental costs for each new project or region, making it easier to scale our branding efforts without worrying about additional expenses.
❸ Multiple Formats and Uses
Scenario
You use fonts in an ever increasing variety of formats, including web, print, mobile apps, advertising, etc.
Costs
In traditional font licensing, different licenses are needed for each format, increasing overall expenses. (Not with Gallery Type retail fonts, though. See → Licensing)
Example
Developing a mobile app or expanding brand communication to channels never used before (such as broadcasting) leads to significant additional costs of several €10.000 per year.
Custom Font
A custom typeface usually comes with full rights for all uses, eliminating the need for multiple licenses and reducing complexity and cost.
❹ Long-term Financial Planning
Scenario
Budgeting for font licenses needs to be done annually and can be subject to price increases by the font provider.
Costs
License fees can increase over time, adding uncertainty to long-term financial planning.
Example
If license fees increase by 10% annually, what costs $50,000 this year could cost over $80,000 in five years. In reality though, license costs can easily increase by +100% from one three-year agreement to the next.
Custom Font
A custom typeface provides cost certainty and stability, aiding in long-term financial planning and freeing up budget for other strategic initiatives.
By investing in a custom typeface, we enhance your brand’s uniqueness and consistency and also achieve substantial cost savings and financial predictability in the long term. This strategic investment can ultimately free up resources for other critical areas of your business, supporting your overall growth and competitiveness.
